GFWC Timely Topics
GFWC Timely Topics was organized in Minnewaukan in 1915 and was nationally federated in 1916. The federation is General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC) and is an international women's organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service. GFWC has clubs in all 50 states and in several countries. Washington DC is the headquarters. Timely Topics meets the 4th Wednesday of the months September through April. For over 50 years the club has recognized the senior girls at Minnewaukan High School by hosting a tea in their honor. The tea is held in May. In the 1970s Timely Topics was instrumental in starting the Minnewaukan City Library. The dub has a program or activity each month and the program topics include the arts, conservation, education, home life, international affairs, and public affairs. All area women are welcome to join Timely Topics.
